The following events may be of interest to those in the home education community.

 


 Tuesdays

SAC (Springfield Area Curriculum) Lending Library

Time:   1:00 - 3:00 PM

Location: We are borrowing a room from Immanuel Baptist Church in Springfield. From Kansas Expressway, turn west on Nichols. This is one light north of Chestnut Expressway, or one light south of Division. Go three blocks on Nichols, and turn right on La Fontaine. The SAC library is upstairs in the old rock church behind the newer church building. Turn right as you enter the front doors, then right again and up the stairs.

Cost: $3 first time card fee. $1 per item per school year (return by the end of June). Ask us how you can get your books for free!

 4th Tuesdays

English Country Dance Lessons

Location: Weeks Music Auditorium in Buffalo (Hwy 65 South, approx. 2 miles south of the Hwy 65/32 intersection in Buffalo. Please use the south entrance door to the auditorium and not the main store entrance.)

Time: 7-10 PM

Cost: Lessons are free but a suggested donation of $1 per dancer or $5 per family are appreciated to help cover the cost of renting the facility.

Jordon Valley Jazz Band Rehearsals

Time: 7-9 p.m.

Location:The Creamery Arts Center, 411 N. Sherman Ave., Springfield

 

Springfield's first community youth Jazz Band for high school students (grades 9-12) who want to continue or begin playing jazz.

New Homeschooler Training

Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Location: The Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave., Springfield

No charge. No childcare.

Topics covered are: How to get started, most frequently asked questions, state law requirements, and common homeschool approaches.

HFO Fun Friday - Swim & Gym

Location: Springfield Aquatics and Gymnastics, 529 S. Cavalier Ave., Springfield

Time: 10:00 AM - Noon

Cost: $3 per child

Parents must stay with their children at all times. There are no teachers or classes. The gym has items for babies through older kids (zip line, swings, rings, ropes, trampolines, balance beams, uneven bars, Little Tikes toys, etc.) The indoor pool has a kiddie slide, a big slide and a diving board. Nice big windows and chairs for parents, bathrooms and changing areas in teh swimming area.

HFO Fun Friday - Taekwondo

Location: NPTA Training Center, 3134 E. Sunshine, Springfield

Time: 2:30-3:30 PM

Cost: $4 with $1 going to uniform purchase credit per person.

Changing room available. Participants will be entered into the President's Challenge program and earn awards from the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

HFO Fun Friday - Skating

Location: Skateland, 5163 S. Campbell, Springfield

Time: 1-3 PM

Cost: $3 and includes skates. Roller blades are $3 extra.

Snack bar is open during this time period.

HFO Fun Friday - Bowling

Location: Lighthouse Lanes, 350 S. Glenstone, Springfield

Time: 1-3 PM

Cost: $2 for shoes and $1 per game.

Discount price is only good during this time. 

 3rd Fridays

HFO Fun Friday - Pottery Class

Location: Pam Parker School of Pottery, 1807 E. Seminole, Springfield

Time: 11:00 AM - Noon or 2-3 PM

Cost: $10 per student.
